The Swiss-Hungarian startup hopes students will be able to learn from digital content that they consume in their free time through streaming services by using the program.

The app uses flashcards, adaptively difficult challenges, and spaced repetition to ensure users learn words they hear in movies or TV shows properly and remember them for the long-term.
It also allows tailored English content to suit different levels of English.
Skeebdo currently works with over 200,000 movies and TV shows, and provides users with over 40,000 unique words, idioms and expressions to learn, in a bid to “break the tediousness of learning from textbook-like content”.
“Our target market is B1+ English learners between ages of 16 and 45 who regularly watch movies and TV shows,” Balint Farago, one of Skeebdo’s three co-founders, explained.
The fully remote eight-person team is spread over four countries, and plans to expand the content offering to include YouTube videos, and potentially articles and books too.
Skeebdo is also planning to look for an investment towards the end of the year, Farago continued.
“We’ve talked to a few English teachers who really liked the app and even proposed some additions to it (like teacher login and being able to follow their students’ progress),” he added.
