The centres in Leicester, Luton, Newcastle, and Oxford are expected to open later in April, and bring the total number of approved PTE centres in the country to 22.
“We are always looking to expand our test center network. Our aim is to give candidates a wide choice of where they take their PTE exam,” said Freya Thomas Monk, senior vice president of English Assessment at Pearson.
Testing will be administered via Pearson’s VUE test centre network, which is following UK government guidelines on Covid-19 social distancing requirements.

“We have chosen Luton, Leicester, Oxford and Newcastle to meet demand and be convenient for our customers and we are pleased to widen the opportunity to sit an English Language test for UK Visa purposes through either PTE Home or PTE Academic UKVI,” Monk added.
Its SELT tests include the four-skills language test for work and study visas PTE Academic (UKVI) and the speaking and listening test PTE Home. PTE Home is for family, settlement, citizenship as well as Sportsperson and Representative of an Overseas Business applications.
The provider offers PTE for UKVI at 194 locations across the globe, including PTE Academic UKVI test sites in 12 cities in India and five in China.
Pearson announced a number of phases of new centres in 2020, including 72 locations in July, in addition to 32 in September and 26 in December.
